The internationalization of the organization of activities and training courses
Umbria ITS Academy manages dual training processes in particular for the benefit of local companies.
The high degree of internationalization of production systems makes it necessary to have a process of internationalization (structure, projects, training opportunities) capable of developing skills useful to students in order to respond to the needs of the world of work.
Therefore, the path of strengthening the degree of internationalization is essential to make the training offer more attractive and to increase the international network.
The most operational experience that IST Umbria Academy has had is Erasmus.
The implementation of the Erasmus Project for ITS Umbria Academy had very specific objectives:
- first of all the internationalization of the institute, in order to increase its European dimension and expand the network of contacts with training institutes and companies.
- Secondly, the intent was to offer students life experiences, as well as initial training for work, allowing them to grow, even personally, in contexts other than the regional and/or national one. A goal to be achieved was clearly also to stimulate language learning, not only in the company context, with colleagues, but also in everyday activities. The ultimate goal was to allow the students to return with a broader vision, nourished by new stimuli, with a broader scope.
The objectives and impact set were: to raise students’ awareness of internationalization experiences, to increase the usability of their curricula in local, regional and national companies, to encourage the exchange of good practices and mutual contamination, and to strengthen language skills.
Joining the Erasmus project also has a positive impact outside the subjects directly involved. In fact, for example, it allows companies in the regional and national territory, which host students during the internship curricular – part of the course – to benefit from the skills, know-how and best practices that students bring with them after mobility, which have the effect of generating a broadening of views on working methods and Processes.
Finally, the exchange of good practices on the Erasmus theme between ITS, opens up to collaborations of other kinds at European level.
The major needs are: implementation of projects (non Only Erasmus), increasing the length of time students stay abroad, creating and developing more in-house skills for the management of international projects other than Erasmus.
