The European\n<\/span>DIG.INT<\/span><\/a><\/span> project\n(Digital Internationalization Trainers) aims to support the\ninternationalization of Vocational Education and Training (VET) by leveraging\ndigital transformation opportunities. The project addresses the challenge of\nlimited exposure to innovation and internationalization for VET professionals,\nwhich hinders their ability to match the evolving demands of enterprises and\nprovide genuine international learning experiences for students. By equipping\nVET personnel with the necessary skills\u2014ranging from knowledge of EU mobility\ntools to integrating digital technologies in virtual student exchanges and\nwork-based learning\u2014DIG.INT seeks to enhance the attractiveness and\ninternational capacity of VET systems.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

A delegation from Emilia-Romagna recently\nparticipated in a study visit to the Netherlands to explore innovative\nstrategies and services aimed at attracting and enhancing talent. <\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

This visit underscores the importance of\ninternational cooperation in addressing common challenges, such as the need for\nmore digitally equipped and globally minded VET systems. As a result, the\ninitiative not only contributes to regional development in Emilia-Romagna but\nalso exemplifies how can drive innovation and collaboration across borders.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Study Visit to the\nNetherlands: A Delegation from Emilia-Romagna Explores Strategies and Services\nfor Talent Attraction and Development<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/p>

From November 25 to 28, an institutional\nstudy visit took place in Eindhoven and Utrecht, involving a delegation from\nEmilia-Romagna. The visit aimed to deepen understanding of best practices in\ntalent attraction and development implemented in the Netherlands. Supported by\nART-ER, the delegation included representatives from municipalities,\nuniversities, academies, and music conservatories currently engaged in\ninitiatives funded by the Regional Administration to develop or enhance\nservices for talent attraction and retention (and for their families) in\nEmilia-Romagna.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

In the local context, the delegation met\nwith representatives from <\/span>Brainport <\/span><\/a><\/span>and the <\/span>Holland\nExpat Center South<\/span><\/a><\/span> in Eindhoven, as\nwell as the <\/span>Utrecht\nInternational Center<\/span><\/a><\/span> in Utrecht. These\nmeetings showcased how the Netherlands supports talent and their families by\nfacilitating bureaucratic procedures and providing information about public\ninitiatives and events that promote social and cultural integration. Through a\n\u201cone-stop shop\u201d model, these organizations offer integrated assistance with\nbureaucratic matters such as residence permits, visa issuance, municipal\nregistration, health insurance enrollment, and digital ID cards. They also\nsupport participation in events and networking opportunities to ease newcomers’\nintegration into the local community.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

The academic institutions visited included <\/span>Fontys\nUniversity of Applied Sciences<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>HKU University of the Arts<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and <\/span>HKU Utrechts Conservatory<\/span><\/a><\/span>. These universities highlighted their approaches to fostering\nsynergies between academia and the local community through predominantly\npractical educational programs. This allows students to work closely with\nbusinesses and local organizations. They also promote multidisciplinary\ncollaboration between students in scientific and humanities fields, aiming to\ncreate synergies and stimulate creativity.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

Finally, the delegation met with <\/span>Utrecht University<\/span><\/a><\/span>, which presented strategies and models designed to drive regional\ninnovation through targeted partnerships at regional, national, and\ninternational levels. These efforts aim to create research communities of\nexcellence that transcend traditional academic boundaries and connect regional\nand international networks of research institutions, governmental and\nnon-governmental organizations, and businesses. Through the development of\ninterdisciplinary hubs, Utrecht University fosters long-term collaborations with\npublic and private stakeholders, delivering tangible social and economic\nbenefits while promoting the retention of students, researchers, and future\nprofessionals in the region.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn conclusion,\npresentations and discussions with Dutch colleagues painted a clear picture:\nthe strategies implemented by various stakeholders focus on the well-being of\ntalent and their families through a wide range of services and close\ncollaboration among academic institutions, businesses, and local\nadministrations.
